Growing up and getting out!!

Well Ty is getting so adept at his carseat! He now insists on buckling the top clip on his own or you will listen to him scream for a long time over the missed chance at his independence. So on Sunday as we drove to Sunday dinner at my Brother-in-Law's house I turn around because Ty has reached the button to roll down his window... he can't reach it when he is buckled so you can imagine my shock! And there he is... the top clip is UNBUCKLED!!! Dave put him in and said that he was sure it was done up so I am not positive it was completely locked in or not but still... he has never attempted to get out of the carseat like that before! He was reaching forward with the straps off his shoulders and pulling on the driver's side head rest! And THANK GOODNESS for CHILD LOCKS on doors!!! Otherwise his door would have been ripped off driving down the freeway! He was trying his hardest to escape from the confines of his straps and captivity! Luckily we were close enough to their house that he didn't manage to escape before we arrived... I am sure if he was given a bit more time he would have given up on that RED release button and found a way to pull those legs out of the straps and be on his way exploring the other seats in the car... mine would have most likely been first! Oh how I LOVE that he is starting to do more things and grow... but YIKES!!! I don't know if I am ready for all of what he has in store!

Terrible 2's..... It get's worse?????

Well yesterday was a BUSY day in the life of Ty's mother!!! He started off the morning in a way that should have been a warning... He dumped a whole box of cereal on the floor while I was in the shower. Caitlyn was kind enough to clean it up for me... without being asked!!! I was shocked.. and VERY pleased!! :)
Ty took a very short nap while out running errands with Daddy. Then he ran around menacing and messing for a while then started being grumpy from lack of nap and I outlasted him in the attempts to take another nap (late in the afternoon). So he took a nap and I woke him up after about an hour so that he could go back to bed that night and WOW... did he ever make me regret it!
I did not take any pictures last night in the 4 hours between when I woke him up from his nap and the time I sent him off to bed... It was very dramatic... and overwhelming so there were no great blogger instinct picture moments.
If you scroll down and recall the mess from a few days ago when he crumbled crackers and cereal all throughout the living room... multiply that by 3 rooms and double the mess!! He crumbled crackers, pop tarts were squished into the couch (where the kids are not even supposed to eat at... on the floor whatever but not the couch) I cleaned up that and then he had some dinner and wasn't thrilled with it and dumped it out on the floor so that he could use his bowl for a hat! Then he wanted some crackers and I gave him a couple which he immediately chewed up and spit out on the floor.... WHY??? He got some time out time in the booster a few times within the space of 30 minutes or less... he learned fast to say "Yes, Mommy" when I asked him if he would stop doing whatever he had been in trouble for... but obviously it wasn't heartfelt! He was biting, hitting, and just out of control... I was exhausted... he always seems to be more stinkery when I am at the exhaustion level! Oh and yes... I almost forgot... the stripping! Multiple times "Ty where is your diaper????" and then the squeals of delight for the freedom he felt and the attention he recieved! What else can you do? Dress him again and move on~ ugh! OH and I alsmost forgot... he has figured out that he can get out of the crib!!! As long as the little kid table is close to him... mental note to keep it as far away as possible! One more bedtime challenge is all I need!!! :(
So there you are... I just don't know if I can handle worse behavior than I am getting in this glimpse into the terrible 2's... I need some kind of energy draining activities for him... that don't drain me first! My only consolation is that he is SO cute and SO adorable and has those sweet moments that I realize I couldn't live without him... and that is his SAVING GRACE!!!

Overall Failure!

Well today I found the solution to my problem.... or so I thought!!! I remembered that I had some shorts for Ty that were overalls. "Great," I thought, "That should keep him from getting that diaper off!" WRONG!!!!!!!!! He quickly discovered after a little bit of boredom that there were some snaps at the bottom... (easy access to the diaper for a parent... not meant for children, right?) that didn't matter to Ty... it just meant another primitive attempt by his mother had not out-smarted him and so he undid those snaps and removed his diaper as usual! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really thought I had him this time!! It is really sad when you can't figure out a way to keep your 2 year old in a diaper... the other clothes stay on as long as they don't prevent him from the real goal of removing his diaper! Well back to the drawing board.... there must be some way to triumph... did I just make a plea to out whit my 2 year old??? :'( Wow... the rewarding opportunity of Humility that Motherhood has to offer!!

Head over Heels...

Ty is so funny... and his dad is just as funny! He wants to put Ty in Gymnastics.... so he was teaching him to do a somersault... I actually think it would be wonderful to have him in gymnastics... my only concern is that he will get new ideas of how to make more trouble at home... climbing up stuff with new strength! I will be excited for the release of energy though! That boy is like a mini generator!

Anyways... I thought this was a cute video and it was so funny because he rolled across the room every time as his big finish! He really is CUTE and SWEET... just BUSY, CURIOUS, and CREATIVE as well!

Not too Much!

Mmmm... So tasty!

So Wednesday was a pretty boring uneventful day as far as Ty goes! He stripped naked a couple of times but you know... it sort of is the "Same Ol', Same Ol'" by now! ;) Isn't is sad what adjustments we add to our schedule or list of just "Whatever" and continue on as if it is no surprise! I can't wait for the day when that is no longer a "moving on" issue to be dealt with!
So I did snap a few shots of them last night as we were eating our dinner... he eats pizza like this every time he has it... I am curios why... maybe so the real flavor reaches the tongue immediately... I thought he was cute... and pretty silly!

Of course Caitlyn wanted me to be sure and catch that she ate it the right way!!

We were naughty and got Pizza... the kids LOVED it! I had a couple of pieces and so did they and they managed to finish it off without leftovers!!! What a treat!

Crunchy,Stinky, MESSY!!!

So this morning was crazy! We were running low on food so I ran to the store (ALONE) :)! When I got back I gave Ty some cereal (frosted mini wheats) and he had some ritz crackers while I was gone. Then I went to work in the kitchen for a few minutes and kept an eye to see if he was eating his food and if Caitlyn was eating hers. Soon it was time to get Caitlyn ready for preschool and I had to walk through the living room and it was just GROSS!! Crumbled crackers all over the place! And little bits of mini wheats that were gooey (from his spitting his water out after sucking it from the spill proof bottle). The crumbs were covering the floor, the TV table, and even the TV buttons had crumbs stuck in around the gaps!! He really had done a number on the room with junk, too! So I had that to clean up. Then he comes to me missing a diaper and we put that back on immediately!! Shortly after that, it was time for Caitlyn to get in the car to go to preschool. As I walked pass Ty I smell something HORRID!!! Oh... he's poopy! So I ran Caitlyn out to the car and buckled her in real quick and came back into the house to attend to Ty... and what did I find? My worst thoughts becoming reality! He was waiting for me at the front door crying that I had gone out without him... and worst of all.... HIS DIAPER WAS MISSING!!! :( So NASTY!!! (I will spare you some of the grotesque details) I grab his wrist and walk him through the house in search of the wipes to clean out the remaining POOPY mess still dangling between his butt-cheeks (and to make it a little more nauseating... there was this poopy hair dangling out from the PooP glob in his butt!)! Then he shows me his poop covered hand and after wiping up the mess a little he was hauled off to the tub for a major wash down!

What a little STINK in so SO many ways I can't even describe! After that the house had a really bad lingering stench that took some time to pass... so there you have it... that is how Ty made our living room Crunchy, Stinky, and Messy! I can now say that it looks nothing like this... we'll see how long it lasts!

Mondays, Mondays!

So this morning Ty woke up at the usual time of 7am. We head downstairs to start on our day. (Me on the couch trying to get a couple more minutes of sleep and the kids watch a couple of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes!)

Well I was a little more ambitious today than usual because I started breakfast by 8am (rare!) and they had PANCAKES yum yum! They ate up their food excitedly then were back to playing and creating messes, etc. Well I got Ty dressed then was sitting in the living room helping Caitlyn with her Conference Packet from Sunday and Ty was in the kitchen... ALONE! Never a good sign... I have to put up a gate because he just won't stay out of stuff! This occasion was not any different than others.... Ty comes running back into the living room after a minute and smells sweet and is STICKY!!! Well anyone could have guessed it... He had been playing in the syrup! GRRR!

Please PLEASE ignore how messy my kitchen is! I had to clean it all after this anyways so I guess it was a motivational act!
(Don't you just love the "Who Me? What?" Look??)
