A Penny, a Plug, and a Plot!!!!

It has been a while since I have posted ANYTHING on this blog!!!! BUT this was something that NEEDED to be told!!! ;)

Ty is a busy little thing!!! Always doing something so I was trying to keep him under my nose to be aware of what he was up to... That still doesn't work!!!

Ty made some trouble while I was folding laundry and watching a show that he wasn't interested in... so he stuck a small (german) penny (that I thought was put away somewhere with memorable items) he must have stuck directly onto the prongs of the TV plug while it was plugged in and in use!!!!!!!!!!!!! He just snuck right in there with the penny... I don't even know where he got it and randomly stuck in the WORST possible place!!!! He was SHOCKED!!! (no pun intended!) The TV turned off then I look and saw Sparks flying from the outlet and the realization of what just happened set it!

First I checked to make sure he was ok... then TIME OUT!!!!

Hopefully this scared him enough to not do something so dangerous/NAUGHTY again... but I feel that might just be wishful thinking... we'll see! **SIGH**

Ty's BIG Leap

Well Ty has started into the world of JUMPING!!! This video was taken while we were at Caitlyn's birthday party at Kid's Cove (an indoor playground... They LOVE it there!!) I saw earlier that he wanted to jump from the top of the ramp but he was too scared so he went to the bottom which was about an inch off the ground and jumped from there... then he would get back on and go up a little higher and jump from there... over and over until he worked his way to the top and could jump from there (what a little problem solver!)
I caught this video a little later after he had been doing it for a while (but still not sick of it yet!!) He was having a GREAT time! It is a little dark but he is the one in the bright blue shirt with white on the shoulders! Can't miss him... and Caitlyn comes and is sort of whining at me because some boys were teasing her that she was only 2 not 5... BOYS!!! (so you can watch it without sound no big deal)

What is he up to???

Well I am SO relieved to have that surgery behind us and the bill paid for! Now it is just dealing with him being a 2 year old!!! He is extremely busy all the time... but cute! It has been amazing to witness just how big of a difference it made to have that surgery! He hasn't put stuff up his nose since then (that I am aware of). He also is a little more open to the food he will eat and sleeping somewhat better. He is currently experiencing some mouth pain... apparently he is getting a cavity! :( GRRR!!! My kids have weak teeth! They don't really eat too many sweets! So now we'll brush 2-3 times a day to try to keep it under control until we again have Dental insurance! (if it can wait that long!)

Other things:
He is talking like CRAZY!!! Always saying something new each day! No is a favorite of his and he is finally using "Please" and "Thank You" instead of signing them!

He also likes to "Color" with a "Pen" he definitely can express that to me! Thank you Caitlyn!

Speaking of Thanking Cailtyn for Ty's Vocabulary.... The other day I was making dinner and my brother-in-law's family was there with us... I hear SCREAMING coming from upstairs in the Kids' room. Ty and Madison were the only 2 up there so I scurry up as fast as I can... when I reach the top of the stairs there they are in the door way... Ty is lying on the floor grinning and his ride on truck is blocking Madison from passing through the door. I look at Ty and ask "Ty what is going on in here?" (not really expecting any response from a 2 year old) He looks up at me with his devlish innocent look "Nothing" SHOCKED I was just SHOCKED!!! That little pill has just learned out to give the naughtiest answer for his misdeeds! It was TOO cute though! I just had to laugh! It completely took me off guard! He is just a new kid! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!! So squishable and huggable!!!

Much Ado... Good Thing too!!!

SO I have been sort of anxious about this foul smell seeping out of Ty's nose and breath for a little over a month now... I was pretty sure that the last time we had gone into the Doctor that something didn't get out that was probably stuffed up his nose... but all they found was gooey junk from his sinus infection from the irritation of the stuffed nose!
So I went in a little over a week ago and they agreed to schedule an appointment to put him asleep and go in and investigate the stinky nose situation!
They got us an appointment quickly since we are moving away and losing our current insurance.

So 7:15 AM this morning we were at the Surgery Center with a thirsty hungry boy (and parents) since Ty couldn't eat or drink after midnight etc. We decided it was best that no one had anything since he is desperate for food in the morning. (fyi... Caitlyn got to go shopping with Grandma and LOVED it so she didn't have to suffer there with us)

Well I don't have many pictures, in fact none of the pictures I have from the whole day are very good since I forgot the camera at home and used a cell phone to catch images pre and post surgery!
They called us back into the prep rooms after a while and we put the gown on Ty that appropriately read "Tired Little Tiger" I caught a few pictures of him in his little gown playing peek-a-boo and being silly with Daddy.

When the nurse came to get him she brought fun stickers then she took them and his little dog with her and they walked together back to the surgery room and we went out and waited for them to come and tell us...
What did they find????
After Ty was done with his surgery (removal of a supposed (by me) nasal blockage and also an adenoidectomy) the Doctor came out relieved... "I did find something way back in there... it was a wad of paper about like this (I imagine it to be about the size of a chewed piece of gum??) and his adenoids were VERY large so we took those out too and he is doing great and was great."
I was VERY glad to know that they had found something in there... not glad that it was in there but GLAD that they found it and dealt with it and we have this great insurance to pay for ALL of it! (only until Dave is finished working there next week) So now hopefully this will cure the issues of the nose stuffing... the Doctor seemed to think that there was a good chance that the adenoids were to blame for the stuffing stuff up his nose... he wasn't positive but hopeful and SO ARE WE!!!
We finally got to go back and see him and he was pretty out of it and still really limp from the anesthesia. The nurses said that he did WONDERFUL and didn't cry at all... they had to put a mask on him to knock him out then they put a tube down his throat and an IV in his arm. He still had the IV in until they knew that he would drink something... so they brought us a cup of apple juice... Ty downed it as fast as he could and was making mouth motions for more... they got him more but said sort of annoyed/concerned "He can have more but limit what he has" Ty wasn't thrilled about that and eventually dozed back off a little. When they came to remove the IV it was just at great timing... Ty puked up ALL OVER! and kept going until all the apple juice was back! Poor guy!
They got everything they needed done and we dressed him and left with a dazed, tired boy at 10:30 AM. Dave was hungry so we went to get some breakfast at McDonalds... Ty throws up again while we are waiting in the drive thru. Then we get our food and he is pleading for some of it so I give in and hand him a few crumbs of biscuit... which he didn't hold down long after we got home... He was SO desperate for food and drink that he wouldn't stop drinking or anything... it was TOO much for his body to handle from the meds they gave him. He continued to throw up for a little more and finally around Noon he ate a piece of dry toast and then we went for a nap with a bowl in hand... he held onto that bowl pressing the side against his face until he finally fell asleep... it was funny... and a little sad/pathetic.
After his 4 hour nap he was in a much better mood and feeling much better as well... he has been following the BRAT diet (banana, rice, applesauce, toast) and is SO happy to be eating that he hasn't stopped eating or drinking hardly for the past 4 hours he has been awake.

All in all it was a good successful day with high hopes that the issue that began the original Nasal stuffing way back in August has been resolved by fixing his Sinus problem! :) Here's to hoping! Thank you all for your prayers... they helped us all a lot!

Growing up and getting out!!

Well Ty is getting so adept at his carseat! He now insists on buckling the top clip on his own or you will listen to him scream for a long time over the missed chance at his independence. So on Sunday as we drove to Sunday dinner at my Brother-in-Law's house I turn around because Ty has reached the button to roll down his window... he can't reach it when he is buckled so you can imagine my shock! And there he is... the top clip is UNBUCKLED!!! Dave put him in and said that he was sure it was done up so I am not positive it was completely locked in or not but still... he has never attempted to get out of the carseat like that before! He was reaching forward with the straps off his shoulders and pulling on the driver's side head rest! And THANK GOODNESS for CHILD LOCKS on doors!!! Otherwise his door would have been ripped off driving down the freeway! He was trying his hardest to escape from the confines of his straps and captivity! Luckily we were close enough to their house that he didn't manage to escape before we arrived... I am sure if he was given a bit more time he would have given up on that RED release button and found a way to pull those legs out of the straps and be on his way exploring the other seats in the car... mine would have most likely been first! Oh how I LOVE that he is starting to do more things and grow... but YIKES!!! I don't know if I am ready for all of what he has in store!

Terrible 2's..... It get's worse?????

Well yesterday was a BUSY day in the life of Ty's mother!!! He started off the morning in a way that should have been a warning... He dumped a whole box of cereal on the floor while I was in the shower. Caitlyn was kind enough to clean it up for me... without being asked!!! I was shocked.. and VERY pleased!! :)
Ty took a very short nap while out running errands with Daddy. Then he ran around menacing and messing for a while then started being grumpy from lack of nap and I outlasted him in the attempts to take another nap (late in the afternoon). So he took a nap and I woke him up after about an hour so that he could go back to bed that night and WOW... did he ever make me regret it!
I did not take any pictures last night in the 4 hours between when I woke him up from his nap and the time I sent him off to bed... It was very dramatic... and overwhelming so there were no great blogger instinct picture moments.
If you scroll down and recall the mess from a few days ago when he crumbled crackers and cereal all throughout the living room... multiply that by 3 rooms and double the mess!! He crumbled crackers, pop tarts were squished into the couch (where the kids are not even supposed to eat at... on the floor whatever but not the couch) I cleaned up that and then he had some dinner and wasn't thrilled with it and dumped it out on the floor so that he could use his bowl for a hat! Then he wanted some crackers and I gave him a couple which he immediately chewed up and spit out on the floor.... WHY??? He got some time out time in the booster a few times within the space of 30 minutes or less... he learned fast to say "Yes, Mommy" when I asked him if he would stop doing whatever he had been in trouble for... but obviously it wasn't heartfelt! He was biting, hitting, and just out of control... I was exhausted... he always seems to be more stinkery when I am at the exhaustion level! Oh and yes... I almost forgot... the stripping! Multiple times "Ty where is your diaper????" and then the squeals of delight for the freedom he felt and the attention he recieved! What else can you do? Dress him again and move on~ ugh! OH and I alsmost forgot... he has figured out that he can get out of the crib!!! As long as the little kid table is close to him... mental note to keep it as far away as possible! One more bedtime challenge is all I need!!! :(
So there you are... I just don't know if I can handle worse behavior than I am getting in this glimpse into the terrible 2's... I need some kind of energy draining activities for him... that don't drain me first! My only consolation is that he is SO cute and SO adorable and has those sweet moments that I realize I couldn't live without him... and that is his SAVING GRACE!!!
